Service description:

DARE provides victims and survivors with a support buddy/DV Chaplain to support them and refer them to professional services or other NFP in the area that are able to help them leave, or so they do not go back to their perpetrator. Our DV Chaplain is a mobile service. Our Drop-In Centres (yet to come) are more for victims (and survivors) to receive support and information in a safe and secure premise.

We go into high schools with a prevention program for year 12’s
We provide disadvantaged year 12’s with formal attire for free so they can attend their formal. Must be referred from a professional service or school. We are a registered not for profit with DGR status. We are applying for council lease agreement to start Drop-In centres and are ready to activate our DV Chaplains in the South East Corner. Brilliance Counselling & Consultancy

We offer counselling under Better Access to Mental Health Care. We are able to bulk bill clients who are on low incomes, or have controlled access to income.

We have 4 counsellors who are all trained in counselling victims of domestic violence and some are trained to work with perpetrators of violence.

We are 2 AMHSWs, a Psychologist and an OT with a Masters of Counselling.

We operate extended hours 6 days a week by appointment.

Clients needing to access Medicare Rebates will need a MHCP and referral from their GP, Paediatrician or Psychiatrist.

Private clients are able to be self referred.

Skype appointments are not funded by Medicare but we do offer self funded appointments by Skype.

We also offer DVA Services.

Healing Words Therapy

Workshops for victims of trauma, displacement, mental health issues, domestic violence, child sexual abuse and workshops for workers in the human services industry.

Healing Words Therapy workshops are Creative Writing for Healing programs facilitated for the purpose of bringing about a cathartic release, healing and sometimes closure for the participants. It can be done in any language as the writing is never read out loud unless someone wishes to share.

The workshop can be provided in a group setting of up to 20 people per session or on a one-on-one setting.

“We are a law firm specialising in assisting victims of crime to apply for financial assistance to help with recovery from an act of violence. Eligible victims may receive assistance with medical and counselling expenses, travel to attend relevant appointments, the cost of damaged clothing and loss of earnings, along with a recognition payment to acknowledge the harm a victim has suffered. “Yoorana” Women’s Domestic Violence & Resource Service Inc.

Yoorana services Maryborough, Hervey Bay and surrounding areas and provides supported accommodated to women and their children escaping domestic and family violence and funded by the Department of Communities.  We also provide counselling, court support, information and referral and auspice  a childrens program in Hervey Bay.   This program is for children aged 4 – 16 years who have witnessed or experienced domestic and family violence and operates in nominated schools.

Finding The Light Counselling Service

We all have times when we need to talk with a person who really listens to us, someone outside our family or social circle – someone “outside” the problem.
