Working Against Violence Support Service (WAVSS)

The Working Against Violence Support Service (WAVSS) is the Regional Domestic Violence Service in Logan providing free support to women and children experiencing violence in their intimate relationships.  We provide crisis support; information, advocacy and advice; counselling for women and children; groupwork; court support; referral; community education; and leadership for the Logan Integrated Community Response (ICR) and Beaudesert Coordinated Community Response (CCR) networks.

STARR – Standing Tall Against Abusive Relationships

 

STAAR “Standing Tall Against Abusive Relationships” is a physical fitness program specifically designed to empower women who have been or currently are affected by Domestic Violence.

Classes will consist of strength, conditioning and aerobic training sessions. Classes will be run each Wednesday at 9:30am-10:30am and 5:30pm-6:30pm.

Classes will be free for participants.

The Migrant Women’s Advice Service

Relationships Australia – Logan

Relationships Australia provides services to people who are disadvantaged and supports people living in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, those suffering from family violence, poor mental health, addictions, people who are socially excluded and those living in remote areas.  The service offers individual, relationship and family counselling as well as family dispute resolution, in addition to free support through the Gambling Help Service and Victims Counselling and Support Service. 

The Loganholme office services Logan, Beaudesert and Redlands areas and provides telephone and online services.

UnitingCare Community – Helping Out Families

 

UnitingCare Community, Helping Out Families (HOF) initiative provides intensive family support to families with children (unborn – 18 years) in the Northern Logan region. Practical assistance is provided to families in various ways such as: personal and financial counselling, parenting ideas, home or office visits by family support workers, parenting groups, advocacy and support at stakeholder’s meetings, referrals and support to specialised services including 24 hour 7 days a week on call phone support.

Kingston East Neighbourhood Group

 

Kingston East Neighbourhood Group (KENG) offers a family support program offering in home emotional and practical support including managing challenging relationships, advocacy and liaison, child development and parenting skills, budgeting, stress management.  KENG also offers personal counselling, financial counselling, parenting courses, playgroups, supervised children’s contact service and many other groups enabling great support and friendships to be established eg. card making, sewing, tai chi, computer club and infant massage.  KENG also offers an on-site Occasional Child Care.

Youth and Family Service (Logan)

Probation and Parole Service

Probation and Parole Service supervises offenders subject to community-based orders and enforces the orders of the courts to break the cycle of re-offending and increase community safety. Offenders who have committed acts of domestic violence are referred to programs and counselling in the community to address their offending behaviour.

The Domestic Violence Assistance Program (DVAP)

The Domestic Violence Assistance Program (DVAP) provides support to those women experiencing domestic violence who wish to access the legal system to obtain Domestic Violence Protection Orders or variations to Orders. This includes assistance with writing applications for Protection Orders, navigation of the court system, support before and during the court process, information, advocacy and referral and development of a safety plan.
